After freshman year in college, I began to look for things to do outside of school and work. At times, my motivation was to generate passive income, keep myself occupied, wanting to “get into” a new hobby, or a mix of all three.
To name a few hobbies/interests (some of which I still do today):
- Working out seriously (creating a workout program, hitting every muscle group, etc)
- Trying a new diet (to aid in low energy levels and mental fog)
- Rock Climbing
- MMA (specifically, Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai)
- Programming micro-controllers for small IoT projects
- Creating a YouTube channel
Furthermore, I wanted to create a blog/YouTube/Podcast “brand”. Create content that fits a similar cohesive topic. Initially, I was thinking of creating one around Machine Learning. But after starting to produce a small amount of content, I knew right away I wouldn’t stick with it.
After discussing this with my friends, one suggested “why not do a blog about figuring out what to do”. Why not? I have plenty of things to write about! Past events, current endeavors, and future plans all fall into this category!
Hence, this blog, What Should I do? is born!
My initial plan is to have a series for each interest, and take it from there. Each series documents my progression in that topic. For instance, I’m currently in the starting phase of the Ketogenic Diet, and am taking glucose and ketone (3-hydroxybutyric acid) measurements. Posting some graphs and charts may help others starting out. I could also post tutorials about my micro-controller development, discussing how to create and deploy a Rasberry Pi server that accepts serial data from an Arduino. But for the sake of brevity, I have many ideas I’m planning to try out.
For my next post, I’ll write about my background, what I do for work, and what I’m studying to become.
